In Puri,Khurda, Cuttack and Jagatsinghpur districts in Odisha state.

Project Start date 01st September 2010 to December 2010

After the sanction of the project we did  our survey and listed the villages on priority basis of no of disable people live in that particular village and short listed the most needed intervention. Our field coordinator Shri Artha Trana Sarangi has taken training in Chetana of Bhubaneswar how to work with these groups.Shri Dillip Kumar Misra,Ms Rasmita Maharana, Banita Pattnaik ,Mrs Jayashree Mohanty & Ms Prabhasini Pradhan  are  formed a team  to work and spread the awareness through advocacy  for food and lively hood for the people with disabilities.There is a trend in the villages to call these people by their disability name and not by their own name and the person is popularized by his disability and tend to forget his/her name.

We broke all the traditional walls and registered these people and obtained the necessary certificates and  arrangements are made to obtain AIDS & APPLIANCES through Govt  encouraged to inform them that they are all differently abele and has lot of potential in them to grow to their full extent.

We have regular sessions with these groups in their own community places and the parents and siblings are involved in this program who will cope with these persons.They need not shrink for their disability they should rather be confident that they have the quota in all Govt jobs,reservation of seats in the Schols and colleges,even pension scheme is available. railway concessions are available to them and to their attendants when they travel etc.

In the first phase of the first month we build in their confidence and made them say YES to face challenge and grow strong and condemn the persons who calls them by their disability name.

In the second month we discussed and organized public meetings in the 30 villages of our targeted intervention areas/villages. Lot of focus was on PWDs, the special lively hood programs being run by the Govt ,NREGA,RTI & the eight food schemes of the Govt R&R policies and land rights of displaced communities.

We organized  village meetings,Rallies,Theamatic Street Plays,  Public meetings with placards, banners and invited Govt people and shared the information with them and submitted the memorandum to this effect.our focus was very strong at the MICRO level and the info has spread to Macro level. 

We carried forward the message/theme and popularized the Schemes of the PWDs and the Government in the four districts covering 50 villages.

The Villages covered in Khurda district are:

Begunia Block

Tondalo, Chokapada, Bodoberrana.  Dhananauvagaon, Dingor, Kotalonga, Adibasi sahi, Tulasipur, Kamana Sahi, Srimore, Goanpur, Sauvalo, Saruavo, Baghamari etc

Jagatsinghpur district:

Tritol, Ramachandrapur, Pathapada, Kanakpur, Mahilo, Gopinathpur, Erasama, Padmapur, Naradia, Balikuda, Biridi, Rahama, Anolipatna, Ranipoda etc

Puri District :

Puri, Sakhigopal, Pipili, Dondomukundopur, Satasanka, Satopoda, Sunamuhi, Baselli sahi, Dolamandapsahi, Bhibutipur etc.

Cuttack District:

Tologopinathpur, Patasundarpur, Mahanga, BilasuniJamara, Bamphi Sahi, Narsingapur etc.

Different livelihood schemes are identified and they are to be linked in the next phase of this project.
